Uncharted 2: Among Reviews

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

It’s been over a year since I posted anything here… but it’s time to change that. I’m resurfacing from working on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which comes out on October 13. Since I got into the industry I wanted to finish a game that’ll average over 90% in its reviews. Looks like I’m getting my wish. :)

The Half Tuck

So Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has broken a million in sales worldwide. It’s crazy to think that there are at least that many people out there playing our little adventure game. What’s even crazier is reading this blog entry from a childhood idol of mine:

Pretty damn funny, Tim! Everyone at Naughty Dog is now back from vacation and our next project is starting to gather steam – which I can’t talk about quite yet.

I played and finished Mario Galaxy. After working on Uncharted for two years it was nice to play something that is not constrained by reality or story. Just like most of the reviews have been saying, this game felt like a return to form for Mario. I loved the tight focus of each level (except for the swimming sections – is there any game that has fun swimming?)

Conquered Olympus

I finished God of War II last night.  Even though the game didn’t stray too far from the formula of the original, everything felt much more polished.  The team really put together a great cinematic experience.

Favorite bit: fighting Perseus from Clash of the Titans.  There’s nothing like seeing a childhood icon and beating the crap out of him.
