Open Canvas

I spent much of Sunday playing with different digital drawing programs (Photoshop, Painter, Sketchbook, and OpenCanvas) in hopes of finding which one is ideal for drawing and inking comics. I found that OpenCanvas has the best line sensitivity. Check out a quick sketch:

The downside is that I can’t easily manipulate the image like I could in Photoshop. Hopefully this forces me to sketch more and plant the proportions properly.

Did some home life drawing sketches from images of a model I found in DeviantArt. I also experimented with textures – might have gone a bit overboard with this one.

I co-wrote an article with Richard Lemarchand for this months Game Developer Magazine. It’s pretty cool that my first published writing (not including the story work I did for Uncharted) is a cover piece for one of my favorite magazines. It’s a pretty cool article about the blood, sweat, and tears we poured over this game.

It’s been a freakin’ long time since the last post. I’ve been working on a new story where I gave myself the challenge that it can’t have any superheroes or zombies (or any kind of horror). Anyways here are a couple of drawings I’ve done to figure out one of the main characters.
